Spam Management

Spam Management

Mimecast is an email security system that protects against inbound and outbound email threats including malware, spam, phishing, data leaks, outages and social engineering attacks. As a cloud service, Mimecast works from outside our organization, on the internet, to provide a first line of defense against malicious attacks and unwanted emails, such as spam.

Spam Management

You will receive a spam notification email three times a day from the IT Department, subject line [Mimecast] Messages on hold for [username]@gustlaw.com, listing your quarantined [spam] items.

You can take care of the exceptions (release, block, or permit) directly from the email by selecting one of the three actions for each entry in the email.

  1. Release – click on Release to forward the email to your inbox for this instance only.
  2. Block – click on Block to add the sender to your permanent blocked sender list (blacklist).
  3. Permit – click on Permit to add the sender to your permanent permitted sender list (whitelist).

If you need to check your quarantined items more frequently, log in to your Mimecast personal portal.
